What happens if I fail a stage check or checkride?

Stage check failures are internal to Thrust and trigger remediation training before you re-attempt the check.

Checkride failures with an FAA examiner are reported to the FAA on a Form 8710 but are not career-ending. Both result in additional training and may add to your training cost.

Stage checks happen with a Thrust instructor and stay internal to Thrust. Checkrides are administered by either a Designated Pilot Examiner or through Thrust’s Examining Authority, and failures are recorded on FAA Form 8710.

One or two checkride busts are common across the industry and do not block you from an airline career. The $5,000 refundable contingency allowance in your enrollment is designed to absorb the cost of remediation and retakes.
