The private pilot certificate, also called a Private Pilot License, is the FAA license that allows you to legally fly airplanes.

Fly one-on-one with a certified flight instructor.
The first exam you must pass is commonly called the written exam, but is referred to by the FAA as the “aeronautical knowledge exam.”
Once your flight instructor finds you ready, they will call an examiner for an actual flight exam in the air.
